TRAPDOOR TEAMS UP WITH POLYTRON
Sign partnership agreement to co-publish Fez

MONTREAL, QC., March 16, 2011 – Trapdoor today announced it has signed a partnership agreement with independent developer POLYTRON to co-publish FEZ™, POLYTRON’s highly-anticipated downloadable title. The companies will work together to bring FEZ™ to XBLA in 2011.

“We’ve been fans of the game for years now, and wanted to support the project in a meaningful way,” said Trapdoor founder Ken Schachter. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to help bring FEZ™ into the hands of gamers.”

“What year is it? ” asked POLYTRON co-founder and FEZ™ creator Phil Fish when contacted for a comment. ” Who’s the president? IT’S BEEN HOW LONG?!?!?!?”

Late last year Trapdoor announced a publishing deal with EA Partners for Warp™, the company’s first console title. The game premiered alongside FEZ™ at PAX East this March.

yup, and they are completely self-funded as well.
they signed a deal with EAP, not EA. there’s a difference.
polytron has nothing to do with EAP.

    also, who gives a shit.

  4. Harry Harrison Says:

I only hope that this move helps get Fez out sooner… Still waiting on that release date Phil ;)

  5. teletone Says:

    nice line breaks bro

  6. Millhouse Says:

    Harry Harrison:
You don’t want a release date. With games (especially Indie games) it’s like in hacking scenes – The most accurate thing you can hope for is ‘it’s done when it’s done’.

    On topic:
Noice. I love Trap Door. They makes me some good games.

  7. Tuhd the Internet Troll Says:

just curious if the XNA development compiler thingy will be used to output FEZ to PC at some point. Tuhd heard it possible, but some codey things probably gonna need be changed if written to take full advantage of XBox architecture.

  8. Renaud Says:

@Tuhd : There’s nothing implementation-wise or architecture-wise that’s blocking us for a PC version, XNA being how it is. Anything Mac, Linux, iOS, Wiiware, NGP, PSN, 3DS however would require a complete rewrite, or some clever virtual machine magic that I doubt would even be possible.
    There, I said it.
Also @teletone : Fixed! It was tingling my OCD sense too.

  9. Tuhd the Internet Troll Says:

    Tuhd feel all tingly now.

Do this mean PC version = yes?

  10. Renaud Says:

I never said that. I’m just talking about code and capabilities.

  11. Fish Says:

    XBOX ONLY GOD DAMMIT

  12. Tuhd the Internet Troll Says:

Bah. Tuhd no have one of those.

  13. Karzafal Says:

Alright we need to start working on a Xbox 360 emulator.

PROTIP: Releasing it on PC will get you more money.

In other news, I AM NOT BUYING A FUCKING XBOX JUST TO PLAY ONE FUCKING GAME.

  14. Tuhd the Internet Troll Says:

so what IS blocking the release of a PC version. some sort of contract? or Fishy just being silly?

  15. Lars... basically Says:

The new music sounds like 8-bit yoga music, the old music was way better. I think the next olympics will happen before Fez get released, and I’m not talking about the summer games…

  16. Congrats! Says:

Your idea was good enough to steal, package into a game, rush out the door unpolished, and beat you to releasing it!

It’s like they invented New Coke before Coke!

  17. Tuhd the Internet Troll Says:

sky island is to Fez as Deep impact is to Armageddon

  18. dort Says:

so glad to hear about trapdoor coming on board… this product was stalled out and going nowhere. I really hope this will help change that and actually get this out the door, maybe even with some level of marketing!!

  19. Tuhd the Internet Troll Says:

maybe you should have checked FISH’s twitter updates before you say things like dat. Game been moving forward entire time. With 2 man crew (formerly 3 that Tuhd recall), it only go so fast.

  20. Cash Cash Says:
