Oh man, so awesome. That trailer puts me into such a dreamy state. Best of luck getting the project out the door, I look forward to playing it. If you’re ever in Shanghai, give me a shout.
Undeniably a great trailer! And just further whets the appetite for FEZ! This trailer was perfectly timed as I feel a lot of people were becoming apathetic… Although having “2009″ at the end of the video doesn’t help! Do you have any answers to the possible platforms this game will appear on? Release date? It’s good to have a deadline! Do you even read these replies left by your patient & loving fanbase!?
Perfect timing, with the GDC going on and all. I had already lost faith, but this is awesome. I love the effects that you already showed off in that trailer, that blur effect, the red/green/blue shift on the edges of the dimensional rifts (it makes them look so unstable and dangerous), the fact that 8-bit cave also has a cheap transparency mask overlay.
Also, the 2009 deadline is genius, in terms of marketing.
You’ve done it again. The music, the graphics, the cool, yet fitting effects. I’m usually not too inclined to buy too many games, but I’ll definitely pick this one up, even if it’s just to support independent game development.
Are the similarities with Crush, Echochrome, Doukutsu Monogatari and Closure simple coincidences ? I hardly believe so. This should be the most unoriginal indie game I can’t wait to play
That being said, you should acknowledge your inspiration sources somewhere.

Can’t wait to play this game! Also, I don’t get the wailing about what platform this will be released on. Even if the almighty Polytron has worked its way into a position where it can only be released on a single platform, porting isn’t *too* difficult.
That’ll be 100 nerd points for Harley Turan, and 100 nerd points for Emperor Guam! Congratulations *applauds*
Okay, 100 nerd points for the first one to name this programming language:
procedure VIEWTRAILER(customersUntilNow:int)
begin
customersUntilNow := customersUntilNow + 1;
return customersUntilNow;
end;
(hint: this could also have been done using inc(customersUntilNow), also the language is not case-sensitive)
Oh please! Just release this game already! The “Nerds” are ruminating over which code is being used… A sure fire sign of boredom! I’m really beginning to lose the faith! Zzzz…
as I said, I’m still not even sure if it’s correct, so that might have been a bit unfair…
It’s not Java (I know NOTHING of java, so you can be pretty sure I won’t use it), it was supposed to be C# (don’t hate me if the code wouldn’t even work, k?)
The next thing won’t be the same function (I don’t really know anything in the language. I’m 17, what do you expect?), but it’ll still be recognizable as a language for those who’ve heard of it. 200 points for this one, as it counts as “unnecessary Nerd-lage”.
Oh yeah, I forgot to add one more thing
—FOR THE GENERAL INFORMATION:—
There’s always people asking about what platforms this will appear on, and even though the answer has been answered often enough, I wanna put something together to point people to in the future:
The indie game “Fez” is being developed using the XNA 3.0 frameworks publicly released by Microsoft, which is free. If I remember correctly, I read in an interview with Phil Fish (oh praiseth his name) that they’re using C# as their development language, along with their custom in-house engine (Trixels), and a custom made Level editor (called Fezzer, also written in C#). The XNA frameworks enable developers to develop for Xbox360, Windows based PCs, and the Microsoft Zune for free, so release platforms will probably be either PC, or XBox 360, or both. iPhone, DS, Wii, etc. will probably not be included, as the DS and the Wii require a (very expensive) SDK kit to develop (except for all those homebrew tetris clones, that is), and the iPhone, while being a technically free development platform, relies heavily on Objective-C (see further up for sample). Also, I doubt the trixels engine would run on a 412MHz processor (although it would be condensed awesomeness)
/*So, in short, the game will (VERY) probably be released for PC, XBOX360, or both. No Nintendo DS, no Wii, no iPhone, no Playstation3.*/
Aw shucks, I hoped it would take longer for someone to recognize it… Congrats! Score:
Emperor Guam – 100
Harley Turan – 100
GC – 300
Renaud – 100
It’s gonna be hard for anybody to catch up to GC
But if we wanna continue with this game, I’ll have to learn a few more languages (OR search wikipedia ;P)
I’ll get a new example tomorrow, I’m writing from a cell phone :/
Okay, I got another one, but this’ll be a free round – no points.

Okay, I can’t come up with any more examples, I think that’s about all languages I know enough to identify. I think that makes GC the winner! You win my respect and an internet high-five!

I’m too excited! Fez is looking more awesome than ever.

Very cool! I sense some plot being revealed in this trailer too… Keep up the good work! Here’s hoping for a PC release…

And here’s hoping people will stop bugging them about platforms so that they don’t make it 360 exclusive just to spite us.
March 25th, 2009 at 00:33
That was one of the most brilliant trailers ever made for a video game.
Most trailers are too generic or just a mush of action or storyline.
March 25th, 2009 at 01:45
and when the hell are you going to tell us the plataform(s) and release date!!?
i want to know! because if it is for a plataform i don’t have, i could stop worring about it. or it may be a reason to get one! so tell us please!!!

Something that uses closing braces but not opening braces? Oh wait, the opening brace is just hiding way over there.
No luck finding the language, though.

I’m going to go with my first guess, Pascal.
April 28th, 2009 at 17:13
Yes, that’s right!
So the score is:
Emperor Guam – 100
Harley Turan – 100
GC – 100
Man, I’ll soon run out of languages… What about
public void viewTrailer (int customersUntilNow)
{
customersUntilNow++;
return customersUntilNow;
}
( at least I hope that’s right, I’m very new with that language, but if you know it, you’ll recognize it)
April 28th, 2009 at 17:51
The style reminds me very much of Java, but it might also be valid C++ code.
Hey, wait! You can’t return a value from that function!
So I’m going to go with Java.
April 28th, 2009 at 20:16
Could be C# as well.

Tuhd must know: Does Trixels taste better dan Trix?
May 2nd, 2009 at 17:32
wait a sec…
if (“Trixels” > “Trix”)
{
return true;
} //pseudocode afoot!
ASCII Table says:
Trixels > Trix
so, yes, Trixels does taste better than Trix, no matter how many bunnies they throw in there, Trixels got Fezes (Fezs? multiple Fez)
May 2nd, 2009 at 23:21
We can treat each word as a base 256 number. Then we have Trixels and 00Trix. Trixels is more than two orders of magnitude greater than Trix.
